Copland's"Quiet City" was the inspiration behind this drawing. I had heard the
music and was very moved by it. Driving one night, i reached the brow of a hill
and stretched out before me were the suburbs of a city. Moving vehicles, red,
white & yellow lights, rows of street lights, shadowy and bright buildings,
the lights of windows, a kaleidoscope of moving and static points of light.
I used single note themes, chordle and mixed variations in structure and colour
to try to create a visual symphony, reminiscent of a city at night.
